Quotes From Our InboxWhen a friend mentioned he dictated his last novel, I thought I'd try doing the same. Then I broke my arm and couldn't type -- so I sprang for Dictate. The accuracy was astonishing -- even creepy. My input was two or three times as fast as typing. The new phrase training picks up suspicious homonyms, gives me a choice, and then learns them from context. And the new spelling function allows me to get in all those long Russian names I'd figured I'd have to type. Hats-off to MacSpeech for a remarkable, and most useful, accomplishment. After my father's death a few years ago, I investigated speech-to-text software since I had used such software in the past although the accuracy was not wonderful. I have Dad's diaries, from when he went overseas during the Second World War until his death, and I wanted to transcribe them for my siblings to have copies and to make it easy to search the contents. I have now completed 17 years of the sixty years of diaries. This task would never have been entertained without MacSpeech Dictate. Dictate has not only saved me from my physical aches and pains but has given me a new lease of creative life. My expectation of the program was high - it needed to be able to produce text at at least the same speed I could type - and that's fast believe me. It actually does that, with an accuracy that my colleagues say is 'spooky'. I write English language documentaries and lengthy documents. MacSpeech Dictate has been a boon for me, reducing my time, dramatically, in generating the finished products. Coupled with the Mac, which can audio voice read back to me for editing, I can produce good stuff! Massive time savings. Keep it coming! Some three years ago, I suffered a massive stroke in my brain stem, but I was able to keep a large portion of my speech. Before the stroke, I was a competent typist. Now, I am unable to type at all. I love to write, and MacSpeech Dictate has helped me to do that, and quite well. I am getting a 98% accuracy rate. Thank you so much for this good speech to text program, because it has literally changed my life. It is better than I ever thought such a program could be. Glory! I am an attorney, and use dictation professionally. I quit using human transcription services. Over the past couple of years I have switched to Mac for all but the dictation. I simply had to resort to using windows for dictation. For a Mac person that is a terrible burden! MacSpeech Dictate changed that. I now will write 3-5 page letters or motions that span 10-to-20 pages with accuracy and ease. More importantly, it allowed me to remove one of the last vestiges of Windows dependence. At college the pressure is mounting to meet specific deadlines. I turned to MacSpeech Dictate half way through the year, and was amazed at its accuracy, speed and simple interface. With MacSpeech Dictate, I can now write more creatively and with more speed than ever before. My grades increased from an average of a 'C' to an 'A' over a period of weeks! My future looks bright! With the advent of MacSpeech Dictate my entire computer experience has improved greatly. I now use a wireless microphone from Revolabs and dictate freely while pacing in front of my computer, instead of sitting in front of it. The high fidelity of the MacSpeech Dictate system for even complex scientific terms has not only increased my productivity, but has made it a painless procedure. My usual lumbar pain and sciatica are now minimal when working with a computer. Thank you again MacSpeech. Words cannot express my gratitude for your program. My daughter, Sarah, was diagnosed with brain cancer. She is recovering, however she has difficulty with writing, as her hands are weak and fatigue easily. We tried the other dictation programs available but were unsuccessful with getting those programs to recognize her speech. Last summer, we purchased an Apple computer for her in the hopes that what we read about the "Teen" option was true and that MacSpeech Dictate would work for her. And it does!! Sarah is doing better in high school than we could have ever dreamed. I cannot recommend MacSpeech more highly. I write and edit for a living, and I had resigned myself to a life of aching fingers and painful knots in my back. Then I heard about MacSpeech Dictate. It's probably hard to learn, I thought. I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. It was easy to learn the basics and the more tricky commands come with experience. And the speech recognition is amazing! I now dictate short documents and long ones, saving myself tens of thousands of keystrokes a day. I absolutely love it. My back is relaxing and it's fun to watch the words fly onto the screen as I talk. I received my copy of Dictate a few days ago and immediately installed it on my laptop which is a MacBook Pro, 2.2 GHz with 4 GB of RAM and everything is working very well! While I speak I am also holding my typing stick in my mouth off to one side and I still get 97.5% accuracy. I want to thank everyone at MacSpeech for making this great program and say that it was well worth the wait! I have Spinal Muscular Atrophy and type very slowly but using MacSpeech iListen and Dictate has made typing e-mails and typing documents a total delight!!! Thank you so much! I absolutely am thrilled with the clarity, speed, accuracy of the dictation, word recognition, spelling and EASE of use. I use it primarily for feature/ column stories but also for radio copy and invoices. Wonderful product for many applications. THANK you! MacSpeech Dictate works really well. I am so happy to have it. I have been using it to write a book. Boy, a busy clinic day without MacSpeech Dictate is hairy! :) Please know that the stuff you guys do is appreciated. Following multiple back surgeries and recent neck problems I found it painful to use a keyboard. It was very very deflating, as if I had lost one of my "senses." After finding MacSpeech I have been liberated!! After a learning curve I have been able to open up the world of the Mac's mighty abilities again. Our medical practice was spending about $4000 per doctor on dictation. I am a long time Mac user (since 1985!) and have been waiting impatiently for the availability of a speech recognition program for Mac OS. As soon as MacSpeech Dictate came out I bought it and in the past 6 months the savings amount to more than enough to buy a new MacBook Pro! I am a writer. I recently broke my wrist, and had an article due within the week. My husband came home and surprised me with MacSpeech. I was amazed to see how quickly I was working again. It only took me about 15 minutes to do the voice training, and it was so easy to learn the commands. I love how I can quickly send e-mails, take notes, and write my articles. I have been telling all of my friends and even acquaintances about this product! At first, when I saw your product I was quite skeptical. However, since almost everything in a Mac computer works much better than on a PC, I decided to give it a try. And I am very happy with my decision. I am Portuguese Translator and Interpreter. And I am already using it extensively for my Portuguese into English translations, and it significantly increases my productivity. I got MacSpeech Dictate for my son, who has fine motor skills difficulties that make it torture to write. I knew it would be critical to convey his bright thoughts onto paper. I've just started using MacSpeech Dictate, and I am very pleased with your product. I'm a 67-year-old man, retired, and I have a medical disorder known as Familia Tremors. As a young man I was a touch-typist. Time went by, and my disability increasingly hampered my typing. With MacSpeech Dictate everything is different. Now, I simply speak into my headset microphone and the text flows out with virtually no errors. Thanks for the great new product. My upcoming hand surgery had me worried. As a college professor, I do plenty of writing, and had really dreaded the prospect of being one-handed for six weeks to two months. Then a friend suggested MacSpeech. The surgery went well, and I've been using MacSpeech daily. I crank out letters, e-mail, annotate papers and review projects, prepare course materials for students -- the "whole 9 yards". I use my familiar software (most often AppleWorks, Firefox, Entourage) with narry a hitch, and it feels great. Maybe I'll never go back to hands-on typing. MacSpeech is just that good. Thanks for a fine product. As a person with multiple sclerosis, I am no longer able to type. Thanks to MacSpeech Dictate I am now able to help myself while computing. I know longer have to interrupt my husbands daily chores and we are both better for it. On January 2, 2008, 26 days before starting my final student internship, I had emergency laser surgery for a retinal tear in my left eye. My internship started, and I still had debris in my left eye that caused a glazing effect and hindered work because of the glare from the screen. Someone recommended MacSpeech Dictate and I ordered it immediately. It was very easy to set up. I was so excited when I first sat down at the computer and could dictate my lessons quickly.
